What Day-Shift is
Day-Shift introduces self-employed tradespeople to businesses that need work done. We are an employment agency in the sense of the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003: we introduce you, and the business engages you directly. We do not employ you and we do not pay your wages.
You are self-employed (a sole trader or through your own limited company). Day-Shift cannot be used for work through an umbrella company or on a PAYE agency contract.
It is free for you
We never charge you anything: not to join, not to be matched, not when you are booked. Businesses pay us; you do not.
No exclusivity
You can work for anyone, through us or not. Turning down or ignoring work sent through Day-Shift is always your choice.
Checks we make
Before a business can book you, we check who you are, your right to work in the UK, and the cards and tickets you tell us you hold. We ask for your separate agreement before the identity and right-to-work checks, because they involve documents about you.
Only verified facts count when we decide whether you can be offered a job. What you tell us is shown as what you told us until it is checked.
You do the work yourself
A booking is for you personally. You cannot send someone else in your place, and sites check who has arrived each day.
Who sees what
A business sees your verified trade, grade and cards, your availability and your area (never your home address), and only once you are ready to be booked. Your contact details are shared with a business only when you are booked with them.
A business that invited you sees your passport only if you agree to share it with them, and you can stop sharing at any time.
When things change
If we change this agreement in a way that matters, we will ask you to accept the new version before you take new work. Work you are already booked on continues under the version you agreed to.
